FOUR DAYS IN HEAVEN : I'm Always Proud To Be A Liverpool Fan

Just as I’ve gotten feedbacks from my blog readers saying that reading my posts about football could be boring at times, however in such a busy afternoon I still insist to find time to post about last Saturday’s victory. For once I'm almost lost for words. Where do you start after back-to-back results like those? Excluding cup finals and league deciders, I do not think there can have been two better results so close together in the history of the club.

In the grand scheme of things they are only small landmarks – two games – and United remain favourites to land the league title. But as markers of intent and ability, they could prove immense. If Liverpool do go on to win either of the main competitions, these will be seen as the defining moments. If not, they are still boosts to the self-belief and proof of what this team can do against the very best, and help attain future success. Liverpool didn't just beat Real Madrid and Manchester United, they outplayed them and thrashed them. Unlike victories at Old Trafford in the past decade, this was no smash and grab; it was smash, smash and smash again.

Rafa Benitez's inspired tactics had United's defenders in a rare old spin. It takes a special strategy to breach the most feared defence in the world, a back-line that had conceded only five League goals at home all season but were now all at sea, shipping four in 90 chastening minutes. Benitez plotted their demise expertly, bringing all the intelligence he applies to solving European conundrums to a Premier League challenge. When Benitez puts his best team out, and due acknowledgement must be paid to Torres's absences through injury, Liverpool can embarrass the best. Let's not accuse the manager of negativity when this formation has helped thump the double Spanish, English and European champions in the space of four days, with eight goals to just one in reply!

Could it be that it is the United boss who is now feeling the pressure? Fergie's irrational initial response to seeing his team ripped to bits by a rampant Liverpool certainly suggests he is - and so he should be. It was a hugely impressive result, but Benítez, always looking beyond the battle just won, pondered whether it may prove even more significant in the war - in terms of its impact on United's mindset and, importantly, that of their forthcoming opponents.

Nemanja Vidic was nominated as a worthy winner of the Player of the Year award by Sir Alex Ferguson recently but that choice appeared based entirely on bias on this dreadful performance. The commanding, intelligent centre-half was reduced to a hesitant, unconvincing shadow of his usual self by Torres's strength, movement and skill, with the malaise spreading throughout the United defence long before the Spaniard seized on the Serbian's mistake and equalised. Vidic's second red card against Liverpool this season was almost an act of clemency.

Despite all Liverpool's understandable joy, United rarely suffer successive bad results and this will always leave a scar to their players as their scars will remind them that the past is real! The humilating defeat to Liverpool always give United fans many things to say, professing themselves to be wise, they became fools. I thought Fergie was smart enough to boycott the media and refuse to answer questions, however some United fans, well, I would’nt use the word ‘defiant’- still behave the same old way they use to be. Many United fans were bought and part of them don’t even watch football, ask about club history and players, they only answer you Rooney and Ronaldo. Even Yew Hwa from my class written this down on his facebook status :- “losing is a step to improvement, Liverpool WATCH OUT!!!”. I would clearly like to highlight the word “watch out”, although the first phrase is good but the second half of the sentence sounded revenge. I would like to tell him that he should change his status to “humbleness is a step to repentance” instead! LOL! Sad for them, their arrogant attitute is still there, and hopefully Arsenal will whack them again as well.

Anyhow seeing the smiles of every Liverpool supporter makes me very happy, as we together in a sporting and humble manner support this great club of ours!

walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart,
and you’ll never walk alone ...

Torres and Gerrard
He scores!
whenever my brother plays, you won't worry will the goals flow
teamwork and team spirit is always the key to success
we always believe
losing by 1 goal doesn't mean you lose the game, Liverpool claimed that their never-giveup spirit always help them comeback
Manchester United 1 -4 Liverpool
~~this post is posted inspired by Paul Tomkins, Henry Winter, and my joy for the team. YNWA
